What You're Doing is Not Good!

Aren't you thankful for true friends. The kind of friends who will tell you when you need to wipe your nose, zip your pants, or close your mouth. The kind of friend who is looking out for your best interest no matter what the cost.

In Exodus chapter 18 Moses has this kind of confrontation with his father-in-law. You see, during the early period of Moses leadership he was running himself wide open. The Bible says he was working from morning til night caring for the needs of the people. Thankfully, Moses had wisdom from a friend to say "What you're doing is not good!"

17 Moses' father-in-law replied, "What you are doing is not good. 18 You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone. 19 Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him. 20 Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform. 21 But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 22 Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you. 23 If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied."

We are currently losing 1,200 pastors a month due to burn out for various reasons. One leading cause is that 70% of our pastors say they do not have a close friend to walk the journey of life with. Many leaders are simply performing a circus act of balancing plates trying not to break anything. I believe we too can learn a lesson from Jethro.

1. What you are doing is not good! - walking through life without relationship and help is not healthy. You and the people will only wear yourselves out!

2. We need capable people! - We need to surround ourselves with honest, trustworthy, God fearing people who will enhance who you are and what you are doing.

3. Relationship brings benefits! - The load will be lighter because it is shared. Two are certainly better than one!

4. Everyone is satisfied! - Walking through life alone only wears us out. But with others, everyone goes home satisfied and fulfilled.

I want to encourage our leaders today to find relationship that is valuable so that you can continue fulfilling the destiny that God has placed on your life. I also want to make Cultivate Ministries available to you. Our purpose is to "serve those who serve." It is apart of our heart and mission to "encourage pastors" and support your cause.

If we can serve you please let us know by emailing us at info@getcultivated.com!

It's all about relationship!
