Well let's just see.
True or False? The color white appears on the national flag of Russia?
True or False? The peacock is the national bird of the United States?
Ok, so maybe you are, maybe you aren't. But isn't it amazing how somethings seem to escape our brains. I'm amazed at all the useless information that I have retained over the years, and the most important things just seem to escape the first chance they get. I mean think about it. How many stupid theme songs can you sing? How many movies can you quote from beginning to end? Can you name the 7 dwarfs? I mean come on! I know tons of that stuff but have a hard time remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and sometimes what I'm supposed to be doing at the current moment (I'm sure I shoud be doing something else now!).
There were some very wise instructions given to Joshua in Joshua 1:8 Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Why was Joshua instructed to meditate on God's Word both day and night? Because even God knows that we have a tendancy to forget the important things and let the other stuff take over. Sometimes I think of my mind as the "junk drawer." You know that drawer in your house that catches everything that you have to clean out and organize every few months. That's how I feel sometimes. I have to clean out all the nonsense that has built up and straighten up all the important stuff.
I love God because He is so simple. Here is the process for us in that scripture.
1. Know God's Word.
2. Speak God's Word.
3. Do God's Word.
4. Be prosperous and successful!
Go and read Colossians 1:6-14 and see what Paul said to the church. To a group of excited Christians he commended them on their excitement, but said he had been praying for them to recieve knowledge. It's even more important to know Gods word because that is how we have as Paul said, "great endurance."
Wouldn't it be great to win the million dollar prize and be able to look into the camera and say, "I am smarter than a 5th grader!" I encourage you today to study God's Word. It's not just about do's and dont's. It's about making your life prosperous and succuessful in Christ.
I am smarter than a 5th grader!

P.S. I didn't forget the answers to your questions above! 1. is true and 2. is false!
