The Waffle House Changed My Life!

Ok, so it's not that drastic, but there is a point. Read on!

What a great weekend! Sometimes it's just nice to see something else. It doesn't always have to be a sandy beach (althought that's nice) or a week long trip (I still plan to take one), but it's just nice to get away.

This weekend all of us from 3DN hung out in Scottsboro, AL for an event with some other great Indie Community bands. It was fun playing "real" drums again. It was fun hanging out with the other bands. It was fun hanging out with our friends from 101.7 The Storm. Those are the things we expected to be great, but sometimes it's the unexpected that can make a weekend, or possibly even change your perspective!

"It's not just a meal, it's an experience!" That's what the waffle house said, and you know what? Their right! Heading out to Scottsboro Friday night we stopped at the good ol late night food stop, the Waffle House. Sitting in the Waffle House I laughed like I haven't laughed in a long time, forgot about everything going on in the rest of the world, and really even forgot there was a purpose we were on the road. Everyone has a Waffle House story that will forever be burned in your brain, and last night was one of those for us. But the simple point I'm trying to make here is that sometimes it's the unexpected that can change everything. Sitting in that cold, smokey, and sort of scary Waffle House, it wasn't just a meal it was an experience.

Boost Your Batteries! Matthew 11:28-30 says 28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Sometimes the source of our rest is well... Odd. Sometimes when we pray we expect some sort of thunder and lightning experience (and those are great), but sometimes the "source" is so out of place and unexpected. Sitting in the Waffle House simply satisfying late night hunger (All Star Breakfast!) God was ministering His rest to me. The soap opera that was unfolding inside was ministering to me. The laughter and memories being made with good friends was ministering to me. The poster on the Waffle House wall was correct, It's not just a meal, it really is an experience.

Don't over look or over spiritualize your relationship with God or when He just might show up for you. Scripture repeatedly tells us that if we seek Him we will find Him. Keep your eyes peeled for when He just might show up. He truly does bring rest to the weary, so don't miss it.

In closing, if you've had a bad week, month, or maybe even year, try heading out to the Waffle House in the middle of the night. You never know, God might just meet you there!

Be Blessed,

Brandon
